Onyx Heights Fire Department
Special thanks to Ɖαɛɢʋƨ Ƨκαâ„“â„“ (daegus.xavorin) for supplying this Fire Department Guide.
CHAIN OF COMMAND
Fire Chief: The fearless leader, only one that can veto the Captain and demote/terminate officers. The only one in the station that doesn't have station duty.
Captain: Charged with daily running of the station, handing out suspensions, loads of paperwork and otherwise being a pain
Paramedic Field Chief: Charged with the daily running of the paramedics, handing out suspensions, loads of paperwork and otherwise being a pain.
Firefighters/EMT/Paramedic: Charged with securing patients, ensuring all civilians are out of a dangerous situation that WE can control...building collapse, flood, fire, MVA.
-
Firefighters are required to wear all safety gear. The risk of injury MUST be kept to a minimum in order to ensure the safety of all civilians.
Probationary Officers: You are in the learning phases of the Fire Department, you will have station duty, including, but not limited to house chores and keeping the captain and chief happy. Station duty is on a rotation, everyone will do everything at some point in time. The Captain will assign an officer for the Probie to shadow and learn from during their initial time in the department.

CONDUCT
In a real world environment, the conduct of an officer would be a bit more stringent than it is in an roleplay environment. What you do with your character is your business. If you rape, murder, deal, fine, just don't do it in uniform, and put your civilian/criminal tag on. You cannot be a member of the Police Department as it causes a huge conflict of interest.

FIREARMS
Firearms are not to be carried while on duty, caught with a firearm while on duty will result in immediate suspension, spot checks can take place.

Vehicles
The Sim supplies an arsenal of vehicles for the Fire Department to use. The Rig and the Ambulance should only be taken out if there is an active call that warrants them. This is due to the script lag they cause. If using, please return back to the bay they belong to. If cause using the rigs without reason, it could warrant a warning from Staff.
Fire Fighters & Fires
About 90% of Fire Department's work is medical, there is still the fire fighters side that brings in some interesting role play on its own. A reason why fire role-play's are few and far between deals with the fact that every fire needs to be approved. While the rules of Anarchy Isle are loose, we do ask that players consider to wait to start a fire until a member of the Department is on, so the roleplay is not missed out on.
Fire Fighters Needed-
Someone creates an unexpected fire and there are few or no fire fighters on to put it out. That would be an immediate killer for the fun role play and possibly lead to harsh feelings or bad reputations of the firehouse. Lets face it, some people are not as understanding as others and will point fingers when they don't get their way. Giving a heads up to a planned fire has a better rate of fire fighters working their schedules, when possible, to free up the time for the fire. After all, they did join Fire Department to do the role play. Most fire role play is best done with the minimum of three fighters (pump control, chainsaw, attack hose).
Should someone show interest of putting a fire in their establishment (whether it be a residence or a business), direct them to one of the brass to get more information. They will be asked the location, prim available, detail of fire (how it started, how big, etc), date and time wanted so that the role play can be as smooth sailing as possible.

Playing Out The Fire
Most everything is going to be done through active role play. The Fire Department does not use timed tanks that will beep at the fire fighter when oxygen is gone. Try to keep things reasonable as role play time does not equal real time. Keep communication throughout the whole scene. Give a heads up when entering a burning building, express each floor of a building (if available) being clear; going to different parts of a building; if a victim is located; exiting a building, etc. Putting out a prim fire is very easy and doesn't take a lot of time so be sure to role play in local and give updates of condition on the radio.
There are almost three stages of role playing a fire. The search and rescue, extinguishing the flames and lastly cooldown of the building. Should a victim be found, he or she needs to be brought out to a bus staged outside and worked on there. Treat every patient from a fire with smoke inhalation. After all victims are accounted for, fires are burnt out and the building had a soaking (on a lighter pressure than killing flames), come out and cool off. Drink loads of water as dehydration will be a threat. Fire fighters will be soot covered and exhausted from heavy gear and fighting powerful water pressure. Tips to keep in mind with aftermath role play. Another tip on role play; now that the truck must be backed into the station, have at least one spotter out directing the driver into the station.

Most things touched on are not requirements (unless stated otherwise) and are more suggestions on how to develop a role within the firehouse. If any questions, suggestions, complaints come up feel more than welcome to bring in more role play for the station and connect a brass if needed. Make a wild, fun and interactive life while a part of the Fire Department family.
Role Play Instructions for Medical Calls with police involvement
After the 911 call comes in, change into your uniform and hop in a boo boo buggy (yes, i call it that real life) and respond. Key your radio with (vehicle designation, A1 or A2 responding, eta..however long you think it will take you to get there.

Open the bay door, turn your lights and sirens on and drive carefully to the scene.

Upon arriving, leave your lights on, but shut the siren off, it gets rather annoying after some time.

Wait until the scene has been cleared, the police have a job to do first. Only after the scene has been cleared by the police, enter the area, they will let you know when it’s safe. Our safety is very important, if we are injured on the job, we can't get in there to save someone else, and in turn need to be saved ourselves.

Ask people in local chat using OOC especially if a lot of people are hurt (Please IM me with injuries)

The following is with or without involvement from the PD
Step 1: Do a quick visual exam of the patient (this is when you IM your victim, ask how bad they want the injury to be, what injuries you would find upon the visual exam, if they are able to give you vitals, keep those in the back of your mind) and determine the severity of the injury. Ask their name, tell them who you are, keep talking in a calm voice to them, even if they don’t respond, studies show that those in an unconscious, or semi conscious state can still hear what is going on around them.
Step 2. Do your best to stabilize the vic for transport to the hospital, we are not surgeons, we do not stitch people up; we carry bandages and life saving equipment.
Take a look at this site as well..
http://www.ssgfx.com/CP2020/medtech/procedures/protocols.htm
Do your best to determine the victim’s respiration, heart rate, and pupillary response.

During stabilization. More often than not you will need to run a line and place an O2 mask over the patient. Chances are they will be bleeding, especially in town, most common injuries are gsw's and sw's (gunshot wounds and stab wounds)

Run your saline; give a pain killer, typically morphine, or fentanyl because it’s easier to spell than propoxyphene. Don’t forget to place compression bandages on the wounds and try not to kick them too hard if you have to step over them, I know the duty boots are heavy sometimes.

Step 3. Transport.
Load the gurney into the back of the ambulance and ensure that it is locked in place, if you have two people on the call, whoever is driving will close the doors and jump in the front, the EMT that is in the jump seat, will continue to monitor the patient during transport.

Step 4. Arrival at hospital. Jump out of the bus, move to the back and pull the gurney from within, carefully shove them through the ER doors and into one of the exam rooms, all while hollering over your shoulder why you are there, the patient's vitals and what you have as far as injectables. example "Jessi rushes through the door with the young woman, hollering as she enters exam one "Severe headache, she’s been given four thousand mg morphine (please see the humor in that). If there are no doctors at the hospital, look for a nurse...if there is not a nurse, and you are not sure of the proper procedures for whatever the injury may be. If no one is available you may NPC a doctor.

Step 5. Make sure your patient is happily being taken care of and exit through the ER doors to the ambulance, return to the station and clean clean clean, bloodborne pathogens are not a fun thing to have hanging around the station and I don’t want to see a dirty ambulance when I get in it the next time.
