COMBAT GUIDE
This is a freeform combat sim with dice being optional. Players are reminded to play fair and be reasonable and realistic. Remember, everything is meant to be written as an attempt and you cannot control how the opposer will receive the hit. You can only control your character, unless there has been prior consent.

When calling friends for backup, or for help from bystanders please note. When combat has ALREADY STARTED, consent must be gained by all parties involved whether someone else can join or not. EXCEPTION: POLICE.
-
This is to ensure that scenes do not go on for hours or players feel 'ganged up' on.
-
If you do not communicate with the parties involved and jump into their combative scene, you may be reported. Consent, consent, consent!
-
Texting, calling, radioing etc should be written as an attempt. Think about how long it takes to type out a text message, and how quickly roleplay flows. We're being realistic. Texts MUST be written as an attempt, especially in combat.

Under no circumstances are you allowed to have a combative NPC. Whether it is protecting your business or a personal body guard. If you want such things, hire someone in-character and spread the RP love. Anyone who is seen abusing a NPC should be reported.
Here are some simple things to remember when engaging in combat with one another:
-
TWO actions per post. This includes “defenses” and “attacks”. No matter what you’re emoting, make sure to always list things as attempts. You, as a player, do NOT control how anyone else takes or reacts to your actions.
-
Example:
~ Mary Ann attempts to whack Allen on the head with the blunt end of her pistol
~ Allen ducked, barely missing the narrowing attack from Mary Ann. He could feel the breeze of air as the pistol swung by his face. Quickly he reacted, reaching for her wrist in an attempt to pin her back against the wall.
-
Do not view combative scenes as a “must win” scenario. “Win” or “lose” they are some of the best ways to build depth in a story. Remember to play fair, and if mediation is needed to reach out.
-
When approaching a scene, wait at least one full post round to make sure your character is aware of what is happening.
-
Do not powergame. Your character is not “god” nor a “ninja”, nor does it have unlimited resources on their person. Play to your advantages AND disadvantages. Someone that is large is typically slower. While your character is faster, it might not pack as big of a punch. Play fair!
-
If the players involved in a scene can not freeform to an agreement the option for dice is to be used. Players involved can decide the rules for the dice. Remember that RP can make us feel things (it's part of the fun), but we should never take that IC hostility to OOC. Communicate with one another and be civil.
-
If there is a need for a mod or admin to oversee your scene please reach out in the discord. Remember that someone calling for staff to help with a scene is not a dig on you or your roleplay, but simply an attempt to keep things fair. Do not take offense at this.

Firearm Guidelines
Firearms should be seen as a last resort in Roleplay when engaging in a conflict. Expect to have proper consequences when pulling one or simply walking around with one. Cops might feel the need to question your character or even confiscate the weapon.
-
Please be aware if your character is caught carrying a rifle or shotgun boldly, then serious consequences may come of that. CCTV is seen around the city, and cannot be tampered with. Expect proper repercussions.
When firing a firearm, please be specific on where your character is shooting and what caliber of ammo is used. Remember to play fair and realistic.
If caught abusing any of the firearms allowed, we will moderate your usage and issue a warning. This is not debatable. Multiple infractions will result in a timeout or even ban!
While using a firearm, there is a 2 post requirement. One where you ATTEMPT to draw and aim. One where your character fires. Remember to be clear. Only ONE bullets can be fired during a post. Play realistic to your weapon, reloading takes time and must be done in two posts as well. Abusing this will result in a warning from staff.

There are no automatic rifles in our sim to keep the fairness in the RP. There might be exceptions for specific events, but that is on an case by case basis.
-
If your character wants to do a drive by type of scene, all we ask is that you get consent from the players involved to fire more than one shot! Of course, they dictate how this is received. But realistic drive bys are obviously more than one bullet.
-
If your character is sniping at another, please make sure you are posting those scenes in the proper roleplay group so the rest of the sim can be alerted to it.

While we are lax on the weapons allowed in this sim, please make sure everything makes sense in character. Do not go around sniping people off of rooftops without the means to get up there, or without OOC consent.

-
While we do allow Body Armor, not everyone just has that laying around. Your character should have the proper means of gathering such hardware. Gangs will typically have this on hand. Kevlar shirts is also allowed, but keep in mind those are more "slice' proof rather than stab & bulletproof.
-
ALL armor, no matter the kind, is rendered useless after taking two hits.
-
When you agree to wearing this, you're accepting that your character might be targetted more -- within reason.
-
-

Anyone that abuses our combat guide will have their weapon allowance revoked on warning, and repeat offenders might even become banned. Please have fun, that's what we are here for.
